Clausthal University of Technology

ClU - Germany

Adolph-Roemer-Strasse 2A D-38678 Clausthal-Zellerfeld - Germany

The chair of Software Systems Engineering at Clausthal University of Technology was founded in January 2007 and is headed by Professor Dr. Andreas Rausch. The research activities is focused on software architectures for distributed systems and component technologies, model-and view-based specification and modelling techniques, development and adaptation of software systems engineering process models, and design and implementation of seamless tool support for software systems engineering techniques.

The chair of Professor Dr. Andreas Rausch has concentrated his activities on systems in the context of Ambient Intelligence. He has been a member of the research focus area AmI at the University of Kaiserslautern.

Furthermore, he has been leading the middleware subproject of the BelAmI project (Bilateral German-Hungarian Collaboration Project on Ambient Intelligent Systems). The chair of Professor Dr. Andreas Rausch has realized a framework for the development of dynamic-integrative software systems.

Clausthal University will elaborate the application logic reconfiguration parts of the middleware while integrating state-persistence on the application level as well. Moreover it will focus on the QoS support on the application layer in order to enable QoS across all layers.

Prof. Dr. Andreas Rausch is heading the software systems engineering chair at Clausthal University of Technology. He has been heading the software architecture at the University of Kaiserslautern until begin of 2007. He received his Ph.D. in 2001 from the Technische Universität München at the chair of Prof. Dr. Manfred Broy, with the dissertation titled "Componentware - Evolution-based Development of Software Architectures". His main research activities in the field of Software Engineering are software architectures, model-based Software Engineering and process models. In these areas he published more than 50 international publications.

He was responsible for the research project WEIT developing the standard system development process model of the german government and military called V-Modell XT. Andreas Rausch is one of the four founders of the software house 4Soft GmbH.

Dirk Niebuhr holds a Diploma in computer sciences and is a PhD student at the software systems engineering chair at Clausthal University of Technology. His research interests are means to provide correct dynamically integrated systems. He carried out the technical lead of the middleware workpackage within the BelAmI project. Furthermore he has been responsible for the tailoring aspects during the development of the V-Modell XT.
