- Social Programme -

Wednesday 13th - Friday 15th June 2001, The Senate Room, University of Glasgow.

Social Programme:
Here is a picture of the conference venue.

Wednesday, 13th June: (to be confirmed) there will be an informal reception in the Deparment of Computer Science, University of Glasgow. Here is a picture of the Department.

Thursday, 14th June: (to be confirmed) there will be a more formal reception in the Hunterian Museum.

Friday, 15th June: we have organised a tour of local pubs, including some Jazz and real-ale venues. We can also organise trips to more 'cultural' events including the Scottish National Opera, Ballet and Theatre companies.

Saturday, 16th June: we hope to encourage as many delegates as possible to stay on until the Saturday. The intention is to provide an opportunity for discussion about the issues and topics that were raised during the workshop. We have, therefore, organised a day on Arran - a small Island off the West Coast of Scotland. Depending on the level of demand, we can arrange strenuous walks (up Goat Fell), light walks, mountain biking, cycle tours and a visit to Brodick Castle, Robert the Bruce's refuge on his passage to Ireland. Here is the timetable for the Ardrossan-Brodick ferry. You can return on any of the sailings and connect with a train back to Glasgow Central Station.

For more reasons to visit Scotland and attend this workshop, check out the Scottish Tourist Board. The workshop will be held in Glasgow itself to ease international travel. However, Glasgow also provides a convenient base from which to explore the Weste rn Highlands and Islands.
